The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to facilitate the effective practice of ministry work within a specific congregation/faith community to encourage spiritual formation, to nurture fellowship and mutual care within the congregation/faith community

ECD refers to the physical, psychological, cognitive and social development that a child experiences between birth and school going age. It is for this reason that parents and childcare workers focus on a building strong foundation in early childhood. 

The work of the ECD Practitioner entails: 

  • Plan and Prepare early childhood activities
  • Facilitate and mediate learning
  • Observe and Assess the progress of children
  • Reflect on learning in an inclusive play-based environment to support holistic development of children (from conception to school-going) in different centre- based and non-centre based settings.


In this qualification the learner can be expected to:

Operate as a Project Manager. A Project Manager applies knowledge of project management to achieve project objectives in a specific field of application.   

A qualified learner will be able to:

  1.  Initiate a project to address specific project objectives.
  2. Plan and prepare the delivery of a project.
  3. Execute and control the delivery of a project management plan.
  4. Manage the project close out process.   


The main focus of the learning in this knowledge subject is to introduce the learner to the occupational training environment in South Africa.

The learning will enable learners to demonstrate an understanding of:

  • The structure and purpose of the National Qualifications Framework
  • The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations 
  • The Occupational Trainer


A Community Development Worker collects and provides relevant information from and to communities and builds social cohesion within the community, in order to support the development and implementation of community development initiatives and processes.
